Credit Card

The use of the credit card has swiftly evolved into one of the most prevalent payment options for consumers throughout recent years.  The premise behind a credit card is very basic.  A bank or credit card company will offer to a prospective customer a credit line based on past good or bad credit performance.  The customer is then authorized to utilize the line of credit the bank extends to them for whatever purchases they wish to make.  Customers then pay the bank or credit card institutions back the amount of money that they have used.  Interest charges are also applied to the balance the customer owes the bank contingent upon the interest rates that are normally agreed upon once the contract of the credit card is agreed to.

One of the luxuries of utilizing a credit card for purchases is the reward incentives that credit card companies extend to customers.  American Express and Discover are examples of companies that propose rewards or points that can be accumulated with every purchase made by a credit card.  Customers can then exchange these points for gift cards, cash back incentives or free airline flights.

The deployment of credit cards has superseded the use of cash for transactions more and more in the past few years.  The airline industry has made a move to restrict the use of cash for purchases aboard flights due to the fact that making change for customers has become too time consuming and detracts from the customer service they are trying to offer.  Restaurants and other industries have also noticed the popular switch to credit card purchases noticing that using cash to pay for items has become more obsolete.

Customers are drawn to credit card usage because of the pure simplicity of it.  It allows people to feel more secure and safe knowing that they do not have to transport cash on them, which is a greater risk for theft or misplacement.  The use of a credit card also gives customers a solid piece of mind knowing that, for the most part, they are protected from fraud because credit card companies have gone to great lengths to establish preventative measures that discourage theft or exploitation.  Credit card companies are also very efficient when it comes to restituting customers when fraudulent transactions occur therefore allowing the customer to rest easy and receive a greater satisfaction.
