Finance

Finance includes the use of financial resources over a period for businesses, individuals, and organizations.  The term finance can relate to a number of different elements including the study of money and the study of assets, management of money and assets, risk management, and/or the action of providing funds to a business or a person for a large purchase.

The varying types of finance are categorized into either personal finance, public finance, or corporate finance.  Personal finance refers to finances, which occur for a sole individual’s purpose.  This type of financing addresses the way in which a family or individual budgets and saves and spends their resources over a period.  Personal finance is integral to all individuals living in society.  For some, simply budgeting week to week is all the financial planning that their wages currently allow them to muster, but for others, personal financial planning strategies address financial issues several years in advance.

Public finance includes government related finances whereas corporate finance associates solely to businesses.  The goal of corporate financing is to improve corporate value with the added initiative of increasing the company’s financial risk.  Corporate finance can be divided into two separate disciplines: long-term and short-term.  Capital investments are considered long-term finance decisions as working capital management is connected to short-term finance.  Some of the issues in which public finance entails includes but is not limited to government spending, economy, taxation, exchange, good and services, tax efficiency, and fiscal politics.

Overall finance involves planning, analyzing, and participating in the currency markets.  The ability of one individual versus another to become more involved in finance is heavily dependent on their current working capital, desires take on risk, and personal knowledge of the finance industry.  In the case of  corporate finance, companies strive to not only invest in their own industry, but also, these companies attempt to garner more capital through a variety of other financial methods that prove separate and deviate from their current industry sectors.  Public finance delves deeply into accessing and conserving enough funds to pay for current government projects, grants, and necessities.  Public finance is somewhat different from corporate and private finance in that public finance’s main source of capital is from taxation on citizens.  This is a highly important aspect of keeping a smooth and secure running government, which facilitates and funds public agencies.
